Luxembourg’s Minister for the Economy, Lex Delles, has officially confirmed the opening of aerospace company Blue Origin’s European office in the Grand Duchy. The announcement was made during the 41st Space Symposium in Colorado Springs following a meeting between the minister and the company’s vice-president, Pat Remias. This decision was a logical follow-up to the memorandum of cooperation signed by the parties in June 2025.
The new office will serve as a strategic hub for managing Blue Origin’s expanding global supply chain. The office is designed to coordinate engagement with the Luxembourg Space Agency (LSA), the European Space Agency (ESA) and key industry players in the region. According to Lex Delles, the presence of Jeff Bezos’s company in the country will significantly enhance Blue Origin’s operational capabilities in the European market.
The OASIS project – a high-tech mission to map lunar resources – will be the focal point of the collaboration. The programme involves the use of spacecraft in ultra-low polar orbit to study the Moon’s surface in detail. The mission’s objectives include the search for water ice, helium-3 and rare-earth metals with a level of precision previously unattainable by researchers.
The project will be carried out jointly by the company’s Luxembourg office and its Centre for Advanced Space Resources. The data obtained will form the basis of a space exploration strategy, enabling the identification of the most promising sites for future mineral extraction. The Ministry of the Economy emphasises that identifying critical resources on the Moon is a prerequisite for ensuring a sustainable human presence in space and the development of long-term research programmes.
