As part of the planned improvement of road infrastructure, the Administration des ponts et chaussées (Administration of bridges and highways) will be replacing the top layer of pavement at the croix de Gasperich junction, one of the key nodes of Luxembourg's road network. The work will start on Friday 19 September at 21:00 and will be completed by 5:00 on the morning of Monday 22 September. To minimise the impact on weekday traffic, the closures will be in place for the weekend.
What will be closed:
- exit A1 to A6 via croix de Gasperich towards Belgium
- exit A3 (from Metz) to A6 towards Belgium
Drivers travelling towards Belgium are offered an alternative route: A3 towards Luxembourg → Gluck ring → A3 back towards Metz → croix de Gasperich → on to the A6.
Those who wish to avoid the congested area completely are advised to use the croix de Bettembourg, then take the A13 towards Esch, continue on the A4 to the Esch junction, and via the croix de Cessange exit onto the A6 towards Belgium.
Preparations for the closures will begin as early as Friday afternoon, so congestion is possible even before the work officially begins.
