Luxair has announced that the vast majority of flights to Spain will operate as scheduled, despite the strike by ground staff in Spain. The industrial action, organised by trade unions, will run from 27 March to 6 April, coinciding with the start of the Easter holidays. During this period, around 12,000 passengers are scheduled to depart from Findel Airport alone.

The airline’s commercial director, Thomas Fischer, noted in an interview with RTL that the company is monitoring the situation closely. At present, there are no plans to cancel flights to Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Las Palmas (Gran Canaria) and Tenerife. However, the German Foreign Office and airline representatives are warning of a high likelihood of delays. According to preliminary information, the strike will not affect Luxair’s other Spanish destinations.

To ensure a swift response to any potential disruptions, the carrier has set up a special team of 12 experts. In the event of flight cancellations, the company promises to notify passengers immediately and provide alternative options for reaching their destination. Travellers departing on return flights from the affected Spanish airports are strongly advised to arrive for check-in at least three hours in advance due to the expected increase in queues.

Despite the management’s optimistic forecasts, the situation remains unstable. The main risk relates to ground staff, which could slow down aircraft servicing and baggage handling. Luxair emphasises that it will do its utmost to maintain competitiveness and service quality during the strike.
