Nuits des Lampions art festival will run on September 15-17

The Nuits des Lampions will take place at the Jardin de Wiltz. Unfortunately, tickets for Saturday, September 17, have already sold out. But the Friday night program is almost the same.

On Thursday, September 15, the opening ceremony will take place. Visitors will get acquainted with the festival space and see the new Luxembourg lanterns. They were created throughout the year by European artists with disabilities.

Many lanterns have been repaired and partially or fully reused. There are even some that have seen the very first Nuits des Lampions festival in 2007.

Friday and Saturday, September 16 and 17, will bring with them a more intense entertainment program — music, dancing and light shows. The program for both evenings is almost identical, except for concert headliners. On Friday, the Parisian indie pop group Tahiti 80 will perform on stage. On Saturday, it will be the Belgian musician Sylvie Creusch, whose voice has been compared to those of Lana del Rey and even Kate Bush. There will also be local Luxembourg performers — jazz rockers Benoit Martiny and a reggae outfit Le Vibe.

The COOPERATIONS Leisure Center will organize a photography exhibition and a traveling show. Actors in luminous costumes will walk through the garden on Friday and Saturday evenings. Children age 4 and older will appreciate the selection of films in «The Magic of Animation» program. Also on Friday and Saturday, Hayato Yamaguchi, a Japanese performer from Germany, will perform acrobatic numbers and dance routines.

Tickets for Thursday and Friday and full information about the program can be found on the festival’s website.
