Russian citizens abroad may still have to pay Russian taxes, Ministry of Finance says

The new bill will affect those Russians who work for Russian companies while living abroad.

Right now the law implies that Russians cease to be tax residents of the Russian Federation after staying abroad for 183 days or more. However, a new initiative of the Ministry of Finance aims to abolish these frameworks. The agency proposes to consider any income received «from Russian sources», taxable in favor of the Russian budget.

The Ministry of Finance also notes that this decision will not increase the fiscal burden on businesses and individuals.
