US aerospace company Blue Origin has announced the establishment of its first European office in Luxembourg. The announcement was made after a meeting between Luxembourg's Minister of Economy Lex Delles (Lex Delles) and Blue Origin CEO David Limp (David Limp), where Vice President of Global Supply Chain Tim Collins (Tim Collins) was also present.
Luxembourg was chosen as a strategic platform to manage the European supply chain and support Blue Origin's growth in the region. The company's new office will be a key element in the development of commercial space services, from lunar transportation to logistics and resource exploitation in space. This decision reinforces the international weight of the SpaceResources.lu programme for the sustainable and peaceful development of extraterrestrial resources.
In an official statement, Lex Delles emphasised that the choice of Luxembourg "confirms the attractiveness of our regulatory environment and our strategy for sustainable innovation in space". He called it a milestone for the national space sector, which in recent years has developed into one of the most ambitious in Europe.
Blue Origin was founded in 2000 by Jeff Bezos to build the infrastructure for future permanent human activity in space. Today, Blue Origin develops reusable rockets, including the New Glenn heavy-lift launcher and the Blue Moon landing module, which was selected by NASA for missions under the Artemis programme.
Since the launch of the SpaceResources.lu initiative in 2016, Luxembourg has been actively developing the legal and investment framework for space exploration companies. The country was one of the first in the world to recognise the right of private companies to extract space resources. This approach makes Luxembourg not just a "bank" of Europe, but one of its future technological outposts.
