According to Eurostat, in the fourth quarter of 2024, the eurozone economy grew by 0.1 per cent and the EU economy by 0.2 per cent quarter-on-quarter. In annual terms, growth was 0.7% in the eurozone and 0.9% in the EU.
The US economy showed a higher growth rate: +0.6% for the quarter and +2.5% for the year, well ahead of the EU.
Among EU countries, Poland (+1.3%), Portugal (+1.5%) and Spain (+0.8%) added the most. At the same time, Germany (-0.2%) and France (-0.1%) showed negative dynamics, which slows down the overall growth of the eurozone.
The number of employed persons in the eurozone and the EU increased by 0.1% over the quarter. Annual growth was 0.9% in the eurozone and 0.8% in the EU.
