Scope Ratings affirmed Luxembourg's AAA rating

In a fresh report dated 25 April 2025, Scope Ratings reaffirmed Luxembourg's AAA credit rating with a stable outlook. This decision was yet another recognition of the financial strength of the country, which continues to be a kind of "Swiss knife" of Europe: a compact but exceptionally robust economy.

Scope Ratings emphasises that the top rating is based on a number of factors. Firstly, on strong economic fundamentals: Luxembourg remains one of Europe's most competitive economies, thanks to its high value-added sectors such as financial services, IT and biotechnology. Secondly, the government's conservative fiscal policy, which skilfully balances between supporting growth and controlling debt.

Particular attention was given to support measures aimed at the construction sector and households, which helped the economy recover in 2024 after a global wave of inflationary and energy shocks.
