This Saturday in Luxembourg, the weather will please those longing for summer: temperatures will rise to 23-25 °C, which is comparable to the climate of June. According to MeteoLux, such high values could come close to the all-time April record of 27.9 °C recorded on 20 April 2018.
Such a rare hot day in spring is the perfect excuse to get out into the fresh air, have a barbecue or just spend time on the terrace. But you should not relax for long: the weather will start to change on Sunday.
Temperatures will drop sharply to 17-19 °C on Sunday, to 16-18 °C on Monday and to 14-16 °C by Tuesday, bringing back the coolness of spring. Moderate rainfall is expected along with the cooler temperatures, which will be a relief for farmers and recharge groundwater supplies that have been suffering from the recent drought.
However, Météo Boulaide warns that the rain could be "dirty", as sand particles from the Sahara are likely to be transported. This has the peculiar effect of leaving a fine coating of dust on cars, windows and street surfaces.
