Storm warning from Thursday evening

The national meteorological service, Meteolux, has issued an official warning regarding deteriorating weather conditions across the whole country. Between 8.00 pm on Thursday and 9.00 am on Friday, the Grand Duchy is expected to experience severe thunderstorms, accompanied by hail and strong gusts of wind.

According to a statement issued by the agency, the bad weather will be characterised by heavy rainfall: between 15 and 25 litres of rain per square metre are expected to fall within a short period of time. However, although the weather warning covers the entire country, experts emphasise that the most extreme wind conditions will be strictly localised. At present, the service has not specified which areas will be most severely affected by the adverse weather conditions.
