On 9 December 2024, the National Literature Centre in Mersch hosted an award ceremony for the winners of the National Literature Competition. Minister of Culture Eric Thiel presented the awards to the winners of the 45th edition of the competition, dedicated to theatre plays.

Winners:

  • Charles Meder - 1st prize in the adult author category for his play Urd, which combines multi-lingualism and interactivity, engaging the audience.
  • Antoine Pohu - 2nd prize for his play Les Bienheureux.
  • Eric Abbott - 3rd prize for the piece Second Zechariah.
  • Aimée Dhonte - 1st prize in Young Writers (12-19 years old) for her play It's Raining Cats and Dogs.

The competition was held under the principles of equality and anonymity. Each participant could submit their work under a pseudonym, which ensured objectivity in selecting the winners. This year, the prize fund increased to €17,250, emphasising the commitment to supporting local authors.

Eric Thill, the Minister of Culture, said, "This competition reflects the richness of our literary scene, bringing together a linguistic and genre diversity that is inspiring and exciting."

In 2025, the competition will be dedicated to novels. Information on submissions is already available on the website of the Ministry of Culture.
