The Luxembourg Ministry of Education has released data on the results of the 2025 final examinations. Of the 3,688 pupils who completed secondary school, 73 per cent passed the exams - slightly lower than last year (74 per cent).
As a result of the summer session:
- 2,705 students passed at once,
- 16% will have to retake individual subjects in September,
- 10 per cent failed the exams conclusively.
The most successful were the graduates of the classical direction - here 83% got positive marks, while in general education 66% of students passed the exams.
In the classical system, 11% of pupils expect a retake, and 6% failed the exams. In the general direction these figures were 21% and 13% respectively.
Interesting differences emerged by gender:
- In the classical direction, girls lead with 84 per cent compared to 81 per cent for boys.
- In general education, on the contrary, boys outperformed girls: 68 per cent against 65 per cent.
According to the ministry, 108 students received an "excellent" grade, which was a reason for special recognition from the authorities. This award recognises a high level of academic achievement consistently demonstrated throughout the years of study.
