Education Minister Claude Meisch has unveiled KI Kompass, Luxembourg's first plan to use artificial intelligence (AI) in schools. It is not just a programme, but an entire strategy to help understand how technology can improve learning without replacing human intelligence.

AI has already entered schools - it helps teachers prepare lessons, select assignments and save time. But with it come risks: children can rely too much on machines and stop thinking for themselves. So the project aims to teach students how to use AI wisely, without losing their critical thinking and curiosity.

KI Kompass explains how to use technology at different stages of learning:

  • Learning without AI - in primary school, children develop basic skills: reading, writing, numeracy and communication.
  • Explore AI - in secondary school, pupils learn how artificial intelligence works, how it makes decisions and where it can go wrong.
  • Learning with AI - High school students are beginning to use AI for projects, research and creativity, but with an understanding of its limitations.

"AI is already here, but the key is to remain human," Minister Meisch noted. KI Kompass shows that technology should help and not replace the human mind. It is expected that the Project will help raise a generation that knows how to use modern tools responsibly, consciously and for the benefit of society.
