In the run-up to International Youth Day, Eurostat has published data on self-rated health among young Europeans. In 2024, 90.1% of people aged 16-29 considered their health to be good or very good. This compares to only 68.4% of all EU residents over the age of 16.
Young men rated their health slightly higher than women of the same age - 91.0% versus 89.2%. Income level also plays a significant role: in the least affluent group (first quintile), 86.7% of young people reported good health, while in the most affluent group (fifth quintile) - 94.0%.
Experts note that while health assessment is subjective, it reflects a combination of physical and psychological factors, as well as the availability of resources that influence well-being.
