Weiswampach commune will now be able to buy medicines: details

In a response to a parliamentary enquiry by MP André Bauer, the Luxembourg Ministry of Health has confirmed plans to open a new pharmacy in the commune of Weiswampach. The move aims to improve access to pharmaceutical services in the region.
The main reasons for setting up a new pharmacy:
- Population growth: The commune is actively growing demographically.
- Transport accessibility: Located on a major traffic artery (N7).
- Availability of Medical Infrastructure : There are medical offices in Weiswampach, which increases the need for pharmacy services.
The exact dates of the opening have not been determined yet. A specific date will be known only after the tender is finalised and the infrastructure is prepared. The procedure requires careful selection of a candidate among interested pharmacists.
The Minister reminded that the organisation of duty shifts is regulated by joint decisions of the board of pharmacists and approved by the Ministry of Health. The duty plan is drawn up taking into account the distance to the nearest pharmacy, which should improve the accessibility of pharmacy services for residents of the northern districts.
The new pharmacy should thus not only increase the convenience of access to medicines, but also optimise the work of on-call pharmacies in the Nordspëtzt region.
