In March 2025, Luxembourg will host the European Digital Healthtech Conference, the main topic of which will be the European Health Data Space (EHDS), an initiative that promises to transform healthcare across the EU.

In her opening remarks, Anne Calteux, Head of the European Commission Delegation in Luxembourg, will present the key aspects of the EHDS, explaining why this reform is a priority for the EU.

EHDS is not just a new digital platform, but a strategic part of the pan-European data market. The EU seeks to strengthen its digital independence and increase its competitiveness in the global technology race. The ability to independently manage medical data is becoming particularly important against the backdrop of today's geopolitical challenges.

Most importantly, however, it is about improving the quality of care. Thanks to EHDS, medical researchers will be able to pool patient data, speeding up the search for new treatments. Physicians, in turn, will be able to get a complete picture of a patient's medical history (with the patient's consent, of course), which will allow them to prescribe more accurate and effective treatment.

Anna Calteau's presentation will focus on artificial intelligence, big data analytics and personalised medicine. These technologies will improve diagnosis and therapy, making healthcare more accurate and accessible. The EU is also aiming for leadership in digital medicine, seeking not just to catch up with the US and China, but to shape the global agenda.

Health and technology touch each of us, regardless of profession, citizenship or social status. The conference will be a place where doctors, researchers, IT experts and authorities will discuss the future of digital medicine.

EHDS is not just an ambitious EU project, but a chance for millions of patients to get better treatment and for scientists to accelerate medical progress.
