In response to cases of the new clade 1b variant of monkeypox in Europe, the Luxembourg Ministry of Health has stated its readiness to deal with possible threats. Clearly defined protocols play an important role in ensuring safety, including:

Early detection of symptoms

Residents with signs such as fever, fatigue, enlarged lymph nodes and skin rashes can go to CHL National Hospital for tests and treatment.

Self-isolation measures and contact tracing

Special attention is paid to preventing the spread of the virus by isolating infected persons and closely monitoring potential contacts.

Luxembourg has a sufficient stock of vaccines that have proven effective. According to the Ministry, during the 2022 epidemic in Europe, a full course of vaccination provided 80-90% protection. At the same time, experts emphasise that there is no reason to believe that the new version of the virus is less vulnerable to the existing vaccine.

Luxembourg relies on rapid response and prevention, which helps to confidently control the epidemiological situation despite the threat from new strains.
