The Luxembourg Department of Health has presented its final weekly review of the acute respiratory infection situation for the current season. Due to the steady decline in the incidence of influenza, COVID-19 and RSV, the publication of regular press releases will be suspended as of today. The authorities note that monitoring will only resume in the event of a sharp deterioration in the situation.
The most significant dynamics are observed in the seasonal influenza segment. Between 2 and 8 March 2026, the number of laboratory-confirmed cases fell from 148 to 55, representing a 63% decrease in just seven days. This is the eighth consecutive week of decline, indicating that the virus is circulating at a low level. Influenza type A predominates in the structure of identified diseases (88%), while type B accounts for only 12% of cases.
The number of positive COVID-19 tests decreased by 27% (from 33 to 24 cases per week). The concentration of the virus in wastewater also shows a moderate decrease. The number of RCV cases stabilised at 43 per week.
Despite the favourable statistics, medical professionals remind us of the importance of basic hygiene: washing your hands regularly for 30 seconds, ventilating rooms up to four times a day, and maintaining social distancing in crowded places. These simple measures remain a key tool for protecting public health during the off-season.
