The number of flu infections in Luxembourg has risen by 80%
The Directorate of Health has published a weekly report on the status of major acute respiratory infections, including COVID-19, influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
During the week, the number of recorded cases of influenza increased by 80%, from 746 to 1,342. Among the typed strains, influenza A dominates (77%), of which:
- 43.2% are subtype A(H1)pdm9,
- 56.8% were subtype A(H3).
To protect against seasonal flu, not only vaccination is recommended, but also simple precautions such as regular hand washing, use of masks and ventilation.
RSV cases are also on the rise, with 232 cases confirmed, up 36% from the previous week (171 cases).
The number of SARS-CoV-2 cases increased by 45%, from 65 to 94 in one week. However, data from wastewater analyses showed a decrease in virus concentrations.
Among the dominant COVID-19 sub-variants in November, XEC (46.5%) and KP.3 (40.2%) were identified.
