In response to a parliamentary enquiry from MP Marc Goergen, the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Martine Deprez, has confirmed that the possibility of opening an additional pharmacy in the municipality of Pétange does exist. However, the final decision depends on the municipality itself and the fulfilment of legal conditions.
According to the current legislation, the law of 4 July 1973 (as amended), a new concession can be granted if all the regulatory requirements described in Article 1 are met. First of all, there is an objective need for additional pharmaceutical services and a formal request from the local authorities.
Thus, if Commune Petange initiates the procedure and confirms the relevance of such a request, the ministry can formally issue a permit to open a new pharmacy.
