50 people have been evacuated from a building on fire

On Monday night, shortly before 1 am, the Luxembourg emergency services received a report of a fire in a flat in a residential building on Rue de Luxembourg in the municipality of Bertrange. According to the CGDIS, no one was injured as a result of the incident. Fire crews from Luxembourg, Bertrange, Mamer, Dippach and Hesperange, as well as the capital’s emergency medical service (SAMU). Due to heavy smoke and damage to the building, 50 people were forced to leave their flats and move to temporary accommodation for the night.

Monday evening proved to be an extremely hectic one for emergency services across the country due to a series of fires and accidents. Shortly before 7.00 pm, a car caught fire between Bissen and Pettingen. One person was injured, and fire crews from Mersch, Bissen and Colmar-Berg were involved in extinguishing the blaze. After 9.00 pm, emergency services were called to Echternach to extinguish a burning tree. In addition, crews from Dalheim and Frisange tackled a vegetation fire on a stretch of land between Filsdorf and Aspelt.

In addition to the fires, the emergency services recorded several road traffic accidents. On Boulevard Joseph II in the capital, two cars collided, but the incident resulted in only material damage. Meanwhile, accidents involving two-wheeled vehicles led to injuries among the riders. Near Poteau de Harlange, a motorcyclist lost control and was injured in a fall; an ambulance from Wiltz and a fire brigade from Lac de la Haute-Sûre were dispatched to the scene. Another person was injured in Dippach following a collision between a car and a motorbike; local emergency services were assisted by a rescue team from Sanem-Differdange.
