Last Monday, the Luxembourg police arrested several suspects as part of an investigation into a series of incidents. That same evening, a street assault was reported on Rue du Fort Neipperg in the Gare district. According to preliminary reports, an unidentified man approached the victim, immobilised them and tripped them, causing them to lose their balance. The attacker then took the victim’s wallet from their back pocket – containing personal documents, several bank cards and cash – and fled towards Avenue de la Liberté.
Later that same evening, police carried out two separate arrests in connection with shoplifting. At around 7.00 pm, security staff at a shop on Rue Alphonse Weicker in the Kirchberg district caught two men after they had stolen various items. The police have not disclosed the exact list of items stolen.
Meanwhile, at around 10.00 pm, a patrol received a report of an incident on Route de Luxembourg in Bereldange. It was reported that a suspect had stolen several barbecues from a petrol station and a nearby shop. Shortly afterwards, officers identified the suspect and located him nearby. During a search, some of the stolen items were found and seized by the police for further investigation.
