A cyberattack has compromised 80 doctors’ surgeries

BMS Engineering, a company that supplies IT systems to healthcare facilities in Luxembourg, has fallen victim to a large-scale cyberattack. According to reporter.lu, at least 80 doctors’ surgeries across the country have been affected by the breach. Among other things, the supplier is responsible for integrating the Immediate Direct Payment (PID) system, which doctors use to carry out financial transactions.

The incident has raised serious concerns about the total or partial loss of medical data. Against this backdrop, Djuna Bernard, an MP from the Déi Gréng party, submitted a parliamentary question to the Minister for Health, Martine Deprez. The MP demanded that the relevant ministry disclose the extent of the possible data breach and state what conclusions the government intends to draw from the incident.
