In Luxembourg, a 14-year-old girl has been remanded in custody by a juvenile court judge following a stabbing incident that took place on Wednesday afternoon in the Limpertsberg district. This was reported by the public prosecutor's office. The attack took place in the common dining hall of two high schools: Lycée technique du Centre and Lycée Michel Lucius.
According to the investigation, at around 12:15 p.m., two schoolgirls, both aged 14, got into a verbal altercation in the dining hall. It is reported that there had been previous disagreements between them. The dispute escalated into a physical confrontation outside the building, on the school grounds. During the conflict, one of the participants took out a knife and stabbed the other.
The victim managed to resist, which, according to the authorities, prevented more serious consequences. Her injuries are not life-threatening. The girl was taken to the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg for medical treatment.
The suspect left the scene but was soon apprehended by the police. The weapon used in the attack was confiscated. As the specialised social education facility for minors in Dreiborn is currently overcrowded, the court decided to place the girl in the Luxembourg Penitentiary Centre in Schrassig.
The investigation has been handed over to the police department for juvenile affairs and child protection. The authorities intend to establish the exact circumstances of the incident. Due to the age of those involved, no further details are being disclosed.
The Ministry of Education confirmed that psychological support was immediately offered to classmates through school administrators and the Psychosocial and Educational Support Service (Service psycho-social et d’accompagnement scolaires, SEPAS).
