Tragedy struck in Huldange on Saturday evening: A woman died after being hit by a car. However, timely assistance was not provided due to a location error, which delayed the arrival of rescuers.

According to an initial report by the Luxembourg Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS), the incident took place in Pommerlach. However, police later clarified that the woman died in hospital and that the scene of the accident was in Huldange.

The misdirection of the first rescue team to Pommerlach caused a 27-minute delay in arriving on scene. CGDIS personnel who arrived at the shopping centre in Pommerlach did not find the accident and were only sent to the correct location - another Knauff shopping centre - after being dispatched again.

CGDIS has confirmed the error and initiated an internal investigation. Audio recordings of the call will be re-listened to analyse the chain of events in detail. Quality Management Service management will undertake a full review of the incident, which may take some time.

One of the key questions remains: could the quicker arrival of the rescue team have saved the victim's life? The answer to this question will depend on the outcome of the investigation and analysis of the delay.
