Attack on prison guard in Schrassig: investigation underway

On Saturday evening, 31 May 2025, there was a serious incident at the Luxembourg Prison Detention Centre (Schrassig). At around 22:00, a prisoner attacked a prison guard.
According to authorities, the injured man's colleagues promptly intervened and isolated the aggressor, ensuring the safety of the staff. The guard was taken to the hospital for medical examination. Fortunately, his condition did not require hospitalisation - after treatment he was released home. The prisoner, in turn, was also medically checked.
The police were called to the scene and the prosecutor's office was notified of the incident. An investigation is currently underway to clarify all the circumstances of the attack.
