The Luxembourg Veterinary and Food Administration (ALVA) has announced the recall of Babybio CAPREA 1 dry infant formula made from goat's milk. The product in question is sold in 800-gram tin cans with an expiry date of 28 July 2027 and batch number 899014.
According to ALVA, there is suspicion that the mixture may be contaminated with cereulide toxin, a substance produced by the bacterium Bacillus cereus. This toxin is particularly dangerous for infants: if ingested, it can cause diarrhoea, cramps and vomiting. In some cases, especially in very young children, these symptoms can be life-threatening.
The agency specifies that clinical symptoms usually appear quickly, within 30 minutes to six hours after consuming the contaminated product. In this regard, parents and guardians are urged not to use the specified mixture under any circumstances and to strictly follow the instructions for returning the product.
