The pharmaceutical manufacturer Qualiphar has initiated a precautionary recall of a batch of Toularynx Dextromethorphan syrup (1.5 mg/ml) following the discovery of a visible piece of glass in one of the bottles. This concerns only batch number 61075. The decision to withdraw the product from circulation was taken despite the fact that a re-inspection of all available samples from this batch did not reveal any similar foreign matter.

No further complaints have been received from consumers at this stage; however, the company states that it cannot completely rule out the presence of hazardous particles in other vials from the same batch. Injection or accidental ingestion of glass microparticles poses a serious health risk, which means that the use of the product from this batch is unacceptable.

Consumers who have this medicine in their home medicine cabinets are advised to check the batch number printed on the packaging immediately. If the batch number is 61075, you must stop using the syrup and return it to your nearest pharmacy for disposal.
