Desecration of a cemetery in Luxembourg

An incident of widespread vandalism has been reported in the municipality of Bettembourg. During the night of 3 to 4 August, more than 60 gravestones were damaged at the local cemetery. Details of the incident emerged on Thursday morning following an official statement from the local authorities.
The city council is currently carrying out a detailed assessment of the damage caused. Municipal officials have stated that they will contact all those affected once the full extent of the damage has been established. The council has strongly condemned the incident.
An official complaint regarding the incident has already been lodged with the police and an investigation has been launched. The local council is liaising closely with the police to deal with the aftermath and restore order in the area.
