Dylan Thiry, who was born in Luxembourg and became famous in France after taking part in the reality TV show Koh-Lanta: Cambodia in 2017, has found himself at the centre of a judicial scandal. On Monday, 20 October 2025, he will stand trial in Paris on charges of abuse of trust (abus de confiance) - French prosecutors say the blogger embezzled some of the funds raised allegedly for charity.

The sum in question is about 250,000 euros raised between 2021 and 2022 through online campaigns. The money was intended to help underprivileged children in Madagascar, but, according to the investigation, part of the money did not go to humanitarian missions at all, but to two Mercedes cars and other personal expenses of Thiry.

If proven guilty, Influencer faces up to five years in prison and a fine of €375,000.

To date, Dylan Thiry has more than 2.3 million followers on Instagram, where he willingly demonstrates his life in Dubai: luxury cars, designer clothes, travelling in private jets. It is this dissonance between the image of a "helper to the needy" and an "emissary of glamour" that caused a wave of criticism and became the reason for an investigation.
