Luxembourg drivers have distinguished themselves on the roads

Some stories about traffic offences in Luxembourg resemble the script of a comedy. One such case occurred early Friday morning on the rue de la Libération in Dudelange. A police patrol spotted a car travelling with its boot open - a picture both absurd and dangerous, which naturally aroused the interest of the law enforcers. Upon checking, it turned out that the driver was drunk and his driving licence was temporarily confiscated.
But this was just one of several incidents overnight. In Niederkorn, another driver was driving with his emergency lights on, staring at his phone. In Bertrange, on the rue de Mamer, a man gave himself away when he tried unsuccessfully to pull out of a car park.
Another driver in Dudelange, on the road to Volmerange, had the most "complex" offence. He was stopped after an accident: he was tested for alcohol, drugs were found on him and his car was uninsured.
These events emphasise the point: the police are stepping up their monitoring of drivers, especially at night. And even the most ridiculous actions, such as an open boot, can have serious consequences if an offender is behind the wheel.
