Luxembourg pension disruption: delayed payments to foreign accounts

Some pensioners living outside Luxembourg are worried: their May 2025 pension payments have not arrived on time. One L'essentiel reader reported that he had not received the money in his French bank account, and attempts to contact the National Pension Insurance Fund (CNAP) on Wednesday morning were unsuccessful.
In response to an editorial enquiry, a CNAP representative confirmed that there had indeed been a technical glitch affecting some international transfers. However, he emphasised that all operations on the cash desk side were carried out correctly, and the incident itself occurred on the side of one of the banks involved in the transactions. It was this organisation that encountered an error when "liquidating" the payments, i.e. when completing the banking procedures.
It is important to note that transfers to accounts inside Luxembourg were not affected and were executed on time. It is only a small part of the payments intended for recipients abroad.
CNAP assured that the situation is under control and will be resolved within a day. The money is apparently already in the system and should arrive in the accounts soon. Despite the inconvenience, there will be no repercussions for most pensioners.
