Two injured during emergency landing of plane in Luxembourg

A serious incident involving a light aircraft occurred at Findel Airport on Thursday evening, 13 November, culminating in an emergency landing and temporary runway closure.
According to RTL, it is a Diamond DA42 with registration OO-ELF. As confirmed by Luxairport CEO Alexander Flassak, the aircraft probably had problems with the landing gear while attempting to land. As a result, the landing ended abnormally.
Police said the pilot became ill in the air, which may have played a role in the situation. Two people on board suffered minor injuries and their condition is not alarming.
After the incident, the entire runway was closed, causing delays and diverting flights to other airports. The aircraft had to be towed off the runway before traffic was restored.
The runway is currently operational again and the investigation is ongoing. Such incidents involving small aircraft are rare, but cause major disruptions at major transport hubs, emphasising the need for rapid coordination of security and maintenance personnel.
