On 22 October, new elections for staff delegates were held in three companies after the results of the March vote were annulled by the Inspectorate of Labour and Mines (ITM). This re-election was a turning point for the OGBL union, which significantly improved its position.

Winning at a new level: Muller & Fils

In Muller&Fils, which operates in the electrical services sector, the OGBL managed to strengthen its position by winning 3 out of 5 mandates instead of the 2 that were awarded in the March elections. In this way, the union not only regained lost ground but also increased its influence.

A radical turnaround at Appi-Lux

At Appi-Lux, a cleaning services company, the situation was a real triumph for the OGBL. The union was the only contestant in the election and won all 4 seats. This is particularly remarkable given that the union did not win a single mandate in March. This turnaround may indicate a radical change of mood among the company's employees.

No change at Energiserv Belval

In the transport company Energiserv Belval, the situation remained unchanged. OGBL retained one of the two mandates, repeating the March result. Despite the lack of improvement, this can also be seen as confirmation of the stability of the union's influence in the sector.

The repeat election showed that support for OGBL is growing in key sectors, particularly in the service and electrical industries. The results of the Appi-Lux vote were particularly telling, emphasising possible employee dissatisfaction with the previous representatives. In contrast, the stability of Energiserv Belval's results indicates a certain stability of sentiment among employees in the transport sector.

The cancellation of previous elections by the ITM emphasises the importance of maintaining the transparency and legitimacy of electoral procedures. This case also demonstrates that a second ballot can dramatically change the outcome, especially if unions are proactive in reaching out to staff.
