An orange alert has been issued in Luxembourg
MeteoLux has raised the alert level to orange, although expectations were more optimistic this morning. Severe thunderstorms are expected between 18:00 and 22:00, with a risk of hail and rainfall of 25 to 40 liters per square meter in some areas, as well as wind gusts of up to 90 km/h.
The orange level means the severe weather could cause significant damage, flood basements and even cause accidents on the roads. It is advisable to move away from objects that could be blown away by the strong winds. Do not hide under trees, avoid walking in the woods and be extra vigilant when driving.
Across the border, Météo-France has issued an orange alert for 22 departments in the central east and northeast, including Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse and Moselle. In the Northeast and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, severe and rapid weather deterioration is expected during the afternoon and evening. The situation is expected to normalize during the night from Monday to Tuesday.
