Energy prices hit cement industry

As a result of rising electricity and fuel prices, the only cement company in Luxembourg, Cimalux of Each, raised the cost of one ton from 95 to 150 euros. This is an unprecedented historical leap, which was simply impossible to avoid. The industry itself remains one of the most energy-intensive.

Then there is a natural chain of price increases. First, the price of concrete rose from 110 to 150 euros per cubic meter. And since this is a key component of construction, prices for new buildings will also go up. However, in the case of single-family homes, this growth will not be the most noticeable. If the current price remains, the new housing will rise in price by about 3000 euros, which is equal to 60 cubic meters of concrete.

The situation is much worse in industrial construction, for example, the construction of bridges and communications, sewage treatment plants. We are talking about thousands of cubic meters of concrete. The only reasonable way out of the situation so far is to save a valuable component and try to avoid overspending.
