Luxembourg airport expects 50 000 travellers in the next 72 hours
This evening the Christmas school holidays begin in Luxembourg. Many residents of the country have already planned a trip by plane, train or automobile to go on a vacation.
50 000 travelers are expected at Luxembourg airport on December 23-26. Flights to warm countries on Saturday and Sunday, December 24-25, will be particularly popular, informs LuxairTours. Of these destinations, the Canary Islands are the most sought after. These resort islands remain the most popular destination among Luxembourgers.
“Keep in mind that there will be more queues and the waiting times will be longer than usual. If you arrive at the last minute, you really risk missing your flight,” warns Rebecca Pecnik, marketing and communications manager at Findel.
To avoid trouble, LuxAirport recommends:
- booking a trip in advance;
- arriving at the terminal two hours before departure, even if you don't have to check your baggage;
- going straight to the screening prepared: putting all liquids in a transparent bag and preferably limiting yourself to only hand luggage.
- planning your trips in advance, taking into account the increased traffic load.
