Luxembourg has the highest incomes
Eurostat conducted another study, this time an economic one. It made it possible to identify equivalised disposable income in the EU.
Equivalised disposable income is the total household income, after taxes and other deductions, that is available for spending or saving, divided by the number of household members. It is expressed in purchasing power standards (PPS). This is an artificial value that helps evaluate the performance of different countries. Conventionally, one PPS can buy the same amount of goods and services in each country.
The average PPS in Europe in 2022 was 18,706, which is almost 700 more than in 2021. However, among the countries there are undisputed leaders. Thus, in Luxembourg the average income was 33,214 PPS. The Grand Duchy's closest competitor, the Netherlands, scored only 25,437 PPS.
At the same time, Eastern European countries and Greece reported the lowest PPS values. In these regions it sometimes does not even reach 10,000.
