Luxembourg is in 16th place in world's English mastery rating

The latest EF study has found that Luxembourgers are among the top English speakers in the world. The country occupies an impressive 16th place, given that it has three official languages and English is not one of them.

The top ten included other members of the Benelux: the Netherlands is the leader, while Belgium is in 6th place. Although in general the picture in Europe is far from uniform. For example, Luxembourg's nearest neighbors, France and Germany, show completely different results. So, the Germans close the top 10, and France is only in 34th place.

It is worth noting that the rating did not take into account the entire population of the examined countries, but only those people who know English. In total, 2.1 million adults in 111 countries and regions participated in the study.
