Luxembourg's Ministers of Culture and Education presented ZLO

On 11 November 2024, Minister of Culture Eric Thiel and Minister of Education Claude Meisch presented the Zertifikat Lëtzebuerger Orthographie (ZLO), a standardised test to assess and certify knowledge of Luxembourgish orthography. The certificate is issued by the National Institute of Languages of Luxembourg (INLL) and is available to everyone.
Key features of the test:
- The test is conducted on a tablet, lasts about 40 minutes and includes 90 questions.
- Participants are asked to choose the correct spelling of a word from four suggested spellings.
- The results are expressed as a percentage of correct answers, which are indicated on the official certificate.
Anyone can register for the test on the myinl.inll.lu portal. The participation fee is 30 euros, including a certificate.
ZLO was developed jointly by the Zenter fir d'Lëtzebuerger Sprooch (ZLS), Luxembourg Centre for Educational Testing (LUCET) and INLL. The Minister of Culture said the test is part of a programme to promote the Luxembourg language, while the Minister of Education stressed its role in promoting literate written language among residents and foreigners.
