New Belgian railway workers strike will take place on November 29 and affect Luxembourg

It is not yet known how large the new strike will be. But the previous one, organized by the CGSP, CSC, SLFP unions on October 5, paralyzed almost all trains from Arlon and Athus to Luxembourg for a day. Only the intercity train on the Liège–Guillemins–Gouvy–Luxembourg route kept moving.

The strike starts on November 28 at 22:00 and will last exactly one day. If it is as large as the previous one, the cross-border workers from Belgium will bear the brunt of the blow. They will again have to find a new way to get to work in Luxembourg.

Why are the unions on strike again? Main reason: Belgium “has not made a decision for the continued development and sustainability of the railway”. Also, workers demand to make railway-related professions more attractive to people. There is an acute shortage of staff in the industry right now.
