No insects in Luxembourg food

Not long ago, the European Commission authorized the use of house cricket powder in food products. Whole or partially skimmed insect flour can be found in a wide variety of products, from bread to pastries. They even infringed on the sacred – beer.

However, do not panic. Products with insects are usually niche products, and this interesting ingredient will not be used for mass production. In addition, such products will have to be labeled accordingly.

That is important for one more reason: insect flour is dangerous for people with allergies. Thus, they must obviously see the presence of the ingredient in the product.

However, the UN has made it explicitly clear that insects are becoming a justifiable inclusion in the healthy diet in the modern world: «high in fat, protein, vitamins, fiber and minerals».
