Social restaurant in Ettelbruck will feed those who don't have enough money for food

The organization Stëmm vun der Strooss has opened a new social restaurant in Ettelbrück. This restaurant will open from mid-November. It can accommodate 30 visitors at a time.

Typically, these initiatives focus on helping the homeless. But now, as president of Stëmm vun der Strooss points out, Luxembourgers earning the minimum wage need just as much support. Rent eats up half of the money every month, and a lot is spent on utility bills. There is almost nothing left for food.

It seems, everyone in need will be welcome at this social restaurant: Luxembourgers, migrants, refugees. Those who do not yet have enough money for a minimally comfortable life in the country still have every right to a healthy, balanced lunch.

Stëmm vun der Strooss helps people in disadvantage to reintegrate into society and professional life in various ways. The organization has previously created an open-air restaurant in Ettelbrück in March of this year. Thanks to the help of the city municipality, it was possible to quickly find a permanent location. Social restaurants have also already opened in the capital, Esch-sur-Alzette and Sanem.

The request to establish such a restaurant was voiced by the Ministry of Health. The project costs 150 000 euros, including repairs and equipment. This money was allocated by the ministry. Going forward, Stëmm vun der Strooss will support the restaurant through donations.
