The European Union will allocate 1.8 million euros to Luxembourg

On November 8, the Council of the European Union signed a resolution on financial assistance to Luxembourg. Almost 2 million euros will be sent to the Grand Duchy to repair damage after last year’s floods. The resolution is yet to be approved by the European Commission. In addition to Luxembourg, the floods of 2021 affected Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and Austria.

Funds for the elimination of the consequences will be allocated from the EU Solidarity Fund. This financial instrument was created in 2002 to provide support to participating countries in the event of natural disasters. Since its work started, the foundation has already participated in the elimination of the consequences of 80 disasters in 24 countries.
