The WAK programme came into existence on 1 January 2021 on the initiative of the association Dräieck a.s.b.l in cooperation with the Luxembourg Ministry of Family and Solidarity. It provides temporary accommodation, food, access to sanitation and social services for homeless adults living in Luxembourg. This year's programme dates have been announced for the period from 15 November 2024 to 15 April 2025.

A minimum period of stay must be confirmed to be eligible for the WAK programme, although new arrivals can be granted temporary shelter for 3 days and nights. In severe cold weather, unconditional shelter for all is provided to protect people from hypothermia.

President of Dräieck a.s.b.l Edward Skrijelj stressed that the main mission of the programme is to support the homeless in Luxembourg, and the entire Dräieck a.s.b.l team, including the Red Cross, Hëllef um Terrain and Inter-Actions, is doing everything possible to ensure that no one dies from the cold.

A team of 23 professionals and volunteers work daily, providing access to hygiene services, hot meals, a place to rest and social support. The day care centre will be open from 12:00 to 16:00. Here you can get lunch, clothes, and participate in social activities. At night, from 19:00 to 23:00, overnight accommodation, dinner and access to showers are provided.

Volunteers play a key role in supporting WAK by helping professionals create a warm and friendly atmosphere. Last season, 110 volunteers put in more than 5,986 hours of service to help those in need.
