There will be 100 communes in Luxembourg from September

The Chamber of Deputies approved a bill that would allow the merging of two sets of municipalities. It will happen after the June 11 elections. The consolidation will be officially ratified on September 1, when the elected representatives will be officially oath-bound.

The communes of Grosbous and Wahl will become one municipality, as will the communes of Bous and Waldbredimus. Each of the new administrative units will keep a double name.

The state has also approved additional subsidies to support the fusion. Thus, Grosbous-Wahl will receive about 5 million euros, which it plans to spend on the repayment of the state debt. Bous-Waldbredimus is expecting to receive 6.7 million euros. This municipality plans to develop its infrastructure and build a new communal house.
