Traffic jams all over Europe: this weekend will be difficult for car travel
Europe is in for the worst traffic jams of the year this weekend. That is the conclusion reached by the German public motorist organization ADAC.
The fact is, this very Saturday the vacation season will begin in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, two of the German federal states. The second wave of vacationers from other regions of Germany and the Netherlands will also hit the road. Meanwhile, many Germans and Scandinavians will be returning home from their vacations. All of them will be traveling by car, of course. With such an abundance of automobiles on Europe’s highways, massive traffic jams will simply be inevitable.
ADAC anticipates that roads will be particularly crowded on Friday and Sunday afternoon, as well as on Saturday morning. The biggest traffic jams will form on German roads leading to the mountains, North and Baltic seas. Motorways connecting Germany to Italy, Croatia, France, Austria will also be under duress.
Traffic jams will also temporarily increase in the Benelux countries. Perhaps traffic jams will not affect the Grand Duchy as much. But residents of the regions bordering France will definitely see many more cars on the roads than usual.
To avoid traffic jams, ADAC advises simply not to travel on weekends. Road trips should ideally be rescheduled for Wednesday or Thursday, when the roads are free.
For Luxembourg, traffic jams are nothing new. In February, the capital entered the top 100 of the most busy cities in the world for cars.
