The Luxembourg Democratic Party has unanimously approved the nomination of 38-year-old lawyer Max Lehnen to fill the vacant seat on the State Council. The reshuffle became necessary following the resignation of Georges Kohn, who stepped down from his post in April this year. The decision to nominate him was taken by the party’s highest governing body on 18 June.

Max Lehnen is a partner at the law firm Lentz-Lehnen and specialises primarily in employment and social law. In addition to his legal practice, he has experience in local government, serving as a member of the Sanem municipal council.

Carole Hartmann, Chair of the Democratic Party, emphasised that the decision to select Lenen was not based solely on his professional expertise required for the role on the State Council. According to Hartmann, Lehnen’s voluntary work and his active involvement in local sports organisations have demonstrated his ability to work effectively as part of a team.

The procedure for approving the candidate’s nomination was carried out by the party’s steering committee — the highest body responsible for discussing the most pressing issues on the political agenda and making strategic decisions within the party.
