NASA CEO Bill Nelson visited Luxembourg to sign an important agreement with the country's Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism, Lex Delles. This ten-year document strengthens co-operation between the two nations in the exploration and use of space resources for peaceful purposes.

The agreement provides for the creation of a legal framework for the implementation of joint scientific and technological projects. The parties agreed on the following areas of cooperation: exchange of scientific data and specialists, development of technologies, educational activities, establishment of research laboratories and organisation of joint seminars and meetings.

On the American side, NASA is coordinating the work, and on the Luxembourg side, the Ministry of Economy and the Space Research Agency (LSA).

The document was a follow-up to the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2019, which laid the groundwork for joint work in space robotics, Earth and space exploration, and technology development.

The agreement is also linked to the broader Artemis International Principles signed earlier by Luxembourg and the US. These principles are aimed at improving the management of space projects and ensuring their transparency and safety. Today, 50 countries have already joined Artemis.

Luxembourg's Economy Minister Lex Delles said the agreement reflects the country's commitment to developing innovation and sustainable space activities. He said the move strengthens international co-operation and promotes responsible and peaceful space activities.

Bill Nelson, for his part, emphasised the historic significance of the agreement, saying it would create an even stronger foundation for joint work in space technology and research.
