Luxembourg's Ministry of Environment, Climate and Biodiversity has announced the third phase of the "Méi Natur an eise Stied an Dierfer" programme. The initiative aims to create greener and more climate-resilient urban and rural areas. In previous years, the programme has already helped 12 community projects with a total budget of 4 million euros.

In this phase, the emphasis is on:

  • Demineralisation and landscaping of public squares.
  • Schoolyard landscaping.
  • Creation of green car parks.
  • Improvement of children's playgrounds.

These measures will help adapt human settlements to climate extremes such as floods and heat waves, and improve quality of life and biodiversity.

The projects are aimed at:

  • Removal of concrete pavements and creation of new green spaces.
  • Adaptation to climate change.
  • Raising living standards and environmental awareness.
  • Maintaining biodiversity in the urban environment.

All communes in Luxembourg can submit their preliminary projects until 30 June 2025. The best ideas will receive funding of up to €500,000 through the Climate and Energy Fund.

The programme emphasises the involvement of local residents, schoolchildren, teachers and associations in the planning process. This approach ensures the support and sustainability of projects.
